Description
Hello!I wanted to do a matte painting from a sketch without references and this is the result. The idea behind it is a town at the edge of a huge rock that levitates because of some ancient magic. I always liked the idea of designing a fantasy kingdom, with mountains, forests, lakes and towns.
I used photos that I took in a trip to Thai as well as some that I found in the internet.
I used Photoshop.
Please, give me some feedback!

DreamTheater : You are right. This is mainly a collage of lot of photographs placed together but also many parts are painted by hand. Maybe I should have put this on the photo manipulation section
You can see the original sketch here:

The fact that you look at it and feel like you're almost able to step into that world, is just amazing. The photography of the clouds is stunning, you caught them at the perfect time. Overall it's just so well done and put together seamlessly. And I don't agree with the above, isn't that what matte paintings are in general anyhow? Paintings done over photos. So you've done well!
My only question is why is there all that water coming off of it? It isn't like it can be just lifting into the air, it is after all attached to the other body of land.
man those clouds are fantastic

cypherx: Thanks for the nice message!! The idea beyond the falling water is that the magic making the rock levitate made it produce some water from inside, as well as some air waves, hence the ripples on the water surface underneath it.
I think it was not a good idea, since it's difficult to understand.
